Today we left San Diego to head south to the Mexican Riviera. Our first night on the ship will no doubt include a trip to the onboard dance club.
For those who couldn't join us, here's a Merengue Fundamentals video so that you can dance along with us. And, for those who like stories, here's the story of this video's birth.
This particular filming almost didn't happen. You see, we love filming outdoors so that we can bring you beautiful San Diego backdrops. San Diego is blessed with many clear, sunny days. But, if you know photography and videography, you know that sunny = shadows. When you're a small operation like us, there's no film crew, no lighting crew, no sound engineers. This means that we have to time our filmings for just after sunrise or just before sunset.
On this particular day, we set out before dawn, arrived on location, got all set up, and started filiming...
About 10 minutes into the filming, the sun was beaming straight into our eyes. We looked at each other and knew the take was ruined. So, we trotted our little selves around the rose garden looking for another spot that would stay out of direct sun for long enough to film the session.
We must have been quite a sight. Just imagine: Two women dressed in bright colors with flowers in our hair, lugging all kinds of computer equipment around a garden soon after sunrise. More than one kind person asked if we needed any help.
In the end, we got our video shot that day. We hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoyed filming for you.
